The Central Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong has announced plans by the government to construct a Senior High School for the Ekumfi-Otuam area, where the late president, Prof, John Evans Atta Mills hailed from. Plans are also far advanced to build a family house at Otuam, which will also serve as a museum in honour of the late former president. Samuel Saprong, Central Regional Minister made the revelations on Badwam on Adom TV Wednesday. According to Mr. Sarpong, the SHS to be situated at Otuam, is already captured in the National Democratic Congress' 2012 election campaign promise of building 200 new Senior High Schools across the country. He said the family house will also serve as a site for both domestic and foreign tourists who wish to know more about the hometown of Prof. Mills. The Regional Minister said work had also commenced on the road leading to the hometown of the late former leader. Prof. Atta Mills died exactly a year today (July 24, 2012), at the 37 Military Hospital shortly after he was taken ill. The government has outlined series of activities marking the first anniversary of his passing which includes, a wreath laying ceremony at the Asomdwee park at the exact time he gave up his breath. A sod-cutting ceremony for the commencement of a library complex in Cape Coast has been scheduled for Saturday while a thanksgiving service has slao been scheduled for the Robert Mensah stadium on Sunday.
