It is emerging that government plans not to bring any charges against former Attorney General, Betty Mould-Iddrisu and will instead use her as a prosecution witness against Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
It is this knowledge that Betty Mould-Iddrisu has been emboldened to get her lawyer to volunteer a statement to the Police. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, it is on record, also gave a statement to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) but declined to appear before that body to answer any questions. Her reason was that there are a number of actions filed at the High Court challenging EOCO's jurisdiction to investigate the matter.
Key players in the Woyome saga like Paul Asimenu, Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh and his wife as well Woyome himself have been arrested and arraigned before the High Court, Financial Division, Accra on various counts ranging from defrauding by false pretences, corruption of public officer among others.
Hints GO has stumbled upon is that if Betty Mould-Iddrisu was to be prosecuted, she would have been joined as an accused person to the ongoing prosecution of the others named above.
The strategy is for Betty Mould-Iddrisu to come out looking as if the state through her is a victim of the alleged defrauding by false pretence(s).
The plan looks to be working successfully as the Police have not had the temerity to pick her up like the others.
