As Ghana grapples with the shock of losing two key ministers in a military helicopter crash, tributes from within government circles have taken center stage in the national outpouring of grief.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, speaking on behalf of President John Mahama, described the incident as a “national tragedy” and confirmed the deaths of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, former Agriculture Minister Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, and four others.

The President has since ordered national flags to be flown at half-mast in mourning.
Former President Nana Akufo‑Addo, in a post on Facebook, has expressed profound shock and sorrow following Wednesday’s military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight people.
Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, also conveyed his sympathies to President Mahama, describing the news as “heart-wrenching” and reflecting on the sacrifice made by the fallen officials.
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, speaking at the Jubilee House, revealed that President Mahama is “ down emotionally,” overwhelmed by the loss of trusted colleagues and friends.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), through General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, described the tragedy as a profound loss and called for “a thorough, transparent, and swift investigation” into the crash.
Other government officials have echoed the collective sorrow.
