ECOBANK Ghana has rewarded some of its cherished customers and also subscribers to the new Xpress Account at the final edition of its promotion.
The draw held at the Makola market, saw about 136 account holders win surprise cash payments ranging from GH¢50 up to GH¢10,000 as well as airtime.
In an interview with JoyBusiness, the Regional Head of Consumer Banking at ECOBANK, Tara Squire, said the move seeks to complement government’s efforts in driving financial inclusion.
“We’re doing this to basically encourage people to put money into digital accounts; if we’ve been giving 10 to 10,000 cedis to a hundred and thirty-six customers every week for like 14 weeks, it’s a lot of money,” he said.
Mr. Squire added, “I do not think for us it’s just a market share game; for us, it’s continuing to be at the forefront of changing financial transactions in Africa so as long as we are able to lead the charge to move Africa into a cash-lite society, into an electronic data-driven society, we would’ve been successful.”
Final draw
It was all chills as thousands queued at the final draw of Ecobank Xpress Account Promotion to open an account in order to stand the chance of winning some giveaways.
In conjunction with the National Lottery Authority (NLA), customers and subscribers of the XPRESS Account were randomly selected through an automated lottery system.
A total of 136 customers received various cash prizes, that is, 50 of them receiving GH¢50, 50 customers winning GH¢100 and 20 customers won GH¢200.
