The National Media Commission has appointed Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal as the new Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) with effect from May 1, 2007.
A statement signed by the NMC’s Executive Secretary, Mr. George Sarpong said Mr. Awal is presently the General Manager, Marketing and Public Affairs of the GCGL.
It said with more than 20 years experience in the media, Mr. Awal had held different positions at the GCGL, including the Northern Regional Correspondent of the Daily Graphic, the Upper West Regional Correspondent of the Daily Graphic, Deputy Features Editor, acting Metropolitan Editor and the Adverts and Business Development Manager.
The statement said he had also served as a consultant to a number of local and international organisations, including the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), Plan Ghana, The Hunger Project and the National Road Safety Commission.
"Mr Awal studied at the Ghana Insti¬tute of Journalism, the University of Wales, UK, the University of Ghana and the Utrecht University, The Netherlands. He holds an MA in Journalism and an MEA in Marketing," it added.
