The Ghana Grid Company is assuring consumers of improved quality in its services next year.
The company said it has had to endure numerous challenges in its formative years due mainly to its decoupling from the Volta River Authority, the operationalization of GRIDCO and the perennial resource shortages of the recent past.
Chief Executive Charles Darku made the pledge at the first annual general meeting of the company.
He told Joy Business the company is hoping to address most of its challenges in the coming year.
“We inherited a grid that is obsolete in quite some parts and we are working to fix that. It gives us difficulties from time to time when we have the equipment go off and we have to restore them.”
Mr. Darku explained GRIDCO is hoping to improve its service.
The Ghana Grid Company was carved out of the Volta River Authority as part of reforms in the energy sector.
The decoupling is essential because of the need for an independent distribution company as more independent power providers such as Sunon-Asogli get involved in electricity generation.
