Guinness, the flagship brand of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL), has honoured coach Kwesi Appiah for being the first local coach to lead Ghana to qualify to the 2014 FIFA World Cup at a plush event in Accra.
Guinness presented an 18 carat gold harp and products to coach Kwesi Appiah and announced that it will be supporting the Black Stars coach's dream of setting up a sports academy in Ghana.
"We are particularly excited because our premium brand Guinness, official beverage sponsor of the Black Stars, a brand built on quality, passion and the drive to win everywhere; a brand made of more, clearly associates with coach Kwesi Appiah for demonstrating these shared qualities," Peter Ndegwa, managing director of GGBL, said.
"Coach Kwesi Appiah is more than a coach. He is the first local coach to quality the Black Stars to the FIFA World Cup. Like Guinness, coach Kwesi Appiah is indeed made of more."
Ghana dismantled Egypt to qualify and Ghana has been drawn in what pundits say is the 'Group of death' with Germany, United States of America and Portugal for the 2014 World Cup finals to be staged in Brazil.
