Asamoah Gyan will undergo test today (Thursday) to know the extent of the injury he sustained while in action for the Black Stars in their final 2017 Africa cup of Nations group match against Egypt.
Gyan sustained a groin injury in the feisty clash against the Pharaohs and was replaced by Jordan Ayew on 41 minutes.
"I felt a stretch in my adductor, so I don't know the extent of the injury.’’ Gyan told Joy Sports AFCON correspondent Benedict Owusu.
Head coach Avram Grant at the post-match press conference was not confident his top marksman would be available for the next match.
"It's not looking so good but Gyan is a very strong boy," Grant said.
"We will need to wait and see. We will have a scan and then we will know better."
However, MRI scan which is expected to take place in the Gabonese capital of Libreville, will determine if the iconic skipper would be match fit to lead the Black Stars against the impressive DR Congo in the quarter-finals on Sunday.
It was disappointing for Gyan to bow out of the game very early with injury as he was making his 99th international appearance and looking to score an historic 50th goal for his country and the Black Stars.
