The West Africa Media Development Fund (WAMDeF) which was recently launched has commenced accepting applications from distressed Private Independent media organizations. The fund which is an initiative of the Media Foundation for West Africa is set up to give financial and technical support to private media organizations within the West African Sub region. According to the Chief Executive Officer, Kwasi Asare, the fund commences funding in Ghana, Togo and Mali in its first year of operations and will expand into other West African Countries subsequently. With initial partnership with Free Voice, The Southern Africa Media Development Fund, and The Media Development Loan Fund, the fund has the objective of providing cheap financial and technical aid to Independent Private Media.
