The First Deputy Majority Whip, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, has paid an emotional tribute to the late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Naser Toure Mahama, describing him as one of the most honest lawmakers she worked with in Parliament.
Speaking to JoyNews following news of his death, the Akatsi South MP said she was devastated by the loss, noting that she had looked forward to working closely with him this year as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) pursued its parliamentary agenda.
“He’s one of the honest MPs I’ve dealt with,” Madam Cudjoe said. “He has been very good to me, and we have worked together as one people. I don’t even know how to express my feelings now because this is not the time to hear this news. I was expecting more from him this year as we deliver for the party.”
She extended her condolences to the family of the late lawmaker and the NDC, describing the loss as deeply painful.
“All that I would say is condolences to my wife and my children, and the NDC. It’s not easy,” she added.
Naser Toure Mahama, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, passed away on January 4, 2026.
He was a stalwart of the NDC and a long-serving legislator who first entered Parliament in 2013 after winning the Ayawaso East seat in the 2012 general elections.
Born in Nima, Accra, on March 17, 1965, Mr Mahama played an active role in parliamentary business, serving as Vice Chairman of the Energy Committee. He was also a member of the Roads and Transport Committee, the House Committee, and the Private Members’ Bills and Motions Committee.
Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues and friends across the political divide. The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Nyarko Osei, described the late Ayawaso East lawmaker as a “gentle soul,” highlighting his calm disposition and commitment to public service.
