A tipper truck driver is battling for his life after he was shot in the eye by armed robbers during an operation at Gomoa Potsin on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway in the Central Region.
The victim, who works with Nag Fairmount Construction, was attacked while on duty.
Confirming the incident, the Gomoa Dominase District Police Commander, ASP Richard Ahiagbor, said the attack occurred during a robbery operation and is part of a growing trend of similar crimes.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, ASP Ahiagbor disclosed that the police have recorded more than four robbery cases in the area within the past week.
Residents told Adom News that robbers are taking advantage of ongoing road construction along the highway to stage their attacks.
They have appealed to the Central Regional Minister, the MP for Gomoa East, Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, and other relevant agencies to urgently increase security in the area.
Meanwhile, ASP Ahiagbor assured the public that the Police administration has mounted several checkpoints along the road to help curb the menace.
