Mr Kwesi Noamesi, a Hohoe based cyclist won the first position of the mountain-hiking race organized as apart of the annual Afadzato-Tagbo-Tsikeke Za (Waterfall festival) of the Chiefs and people of Liati Traditional Area of the Volta Region.
He made the climb of the 2,950 metres of the Afadzato - Tagbo Mountain in a record time of 25 minutes to receive a fully branded connected Onetouch Mobile phone, a T-Shirt and a cap for his feat.
The over 40 participants, received Onetouch T-Shirts and caps as consolation prizes in the keenly contested race.
Mr John Peter Amewu, Hohoe District Chief Executive in an address read on his behalf commended the people for their strict adherence to good environmental sanitation practices that culminated in their winning four consecutive times the accolade of the "neatest town" at the District level.
He urged the youth not to sacrifice the country's rich cultural practices and values for foreign ones.
Mr Amewu urged the people to embrace and access the affordable National Health Insurance Scheme to better their health status in times of ill health.
Togbe Kodadza V, Chief of Liati-Wote appealed to government to expedite action on the construction of the road from Liati-Agbonyra, Wote-Gbledi as well as from Hohoe through Fodome-Xelu and the Liati Soba
He said the deplorable road network was affecting the tourism fortunes of the area and the development of the eco-tourism sites.
