Overview
Some aspects of dating are as clear as black and white. Trying to decipher the signs and signals of someone in whom you’re interested can be difficult if he’s sending you mixed signals. By looking out for a few telltale signs, you’ll be able to determine whether he is interested in you. Then you can decide whether you should invest your time and emotions in him.
Step 1
Observe his body language when he’s talking to you. Signs he’s not interested in you include not making eye contact or angling his body away from you. Folded arms show a defensive closed stance, translating to a lack of interest, according to Marie Claire.
Step 2
Listen closely when the two of you are talking. If he's genuinely engaged in the conversation, he shows he’s interested in what you have to say. If he's looking around, checking his phone or abruptly changing the subject, he isn’t paying attention.
Step 3
Listen to how he introduces you to his friends and family. Introducing you by your name, or as his friend, indicates he doesn't see you as more than just that. He may be reluctant to introduce you to his friends and family, indicating he doesn't see the need to include you in his circle of buddies and relatives.
Step 4
Tell a joke, even if you’re terrible at telling jokes, to see his reaction. If he rolls his eyes, or makes a sarcastic comment, chances are he’s not interested in you. A hearty laugh shows he’s interested, and doesn’t want to hurt your feelings if it's not funny, according to Marie Claire.
Step 5
Check your phone records, sent email messages or your social networking sites. If you’re the one making the majority of calls, sending emails, Tweeting him or sending Facebook messages, that's a good indication of his lack of interest.
Step 6
Follow his eyes when you’re out together. If he’s looking around at other women, or making persistent eye contact with them, he doesn’t see you as relationship material.
