Lawyer Kwabla Senanu, counsel for the 327 applicants who petitioned the Supreme Court to allow them to be joined in the ongoing Presidential Election Petition has admitted sleeping in court, Thursday. His admission follows claims by a deputy director of communication of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku that he [Senanu] slept in court whiles the joinder application was being heard. Speaking on Oman FM’s political discussion programme Boiling Point Thursday night, the NPP man alleged that the lawyer for the 327 applicants was having his siesta during court proceedings. Sammy Awuku also stated that all 327 applicants failed to make an appearance in court. But Lawyer Senanu on Badwam on Adom TV, Friday explained that he only dosed off when the court went on recess because he was fatigued. According to him, due to the nature of the case, he had to stay up all night to ensure he presents a strong case in court. Lawyer Senanu however threatened to expose NPP members who also slept if appendages of the party pushed him to the wall. Explaining why his clients failed to turn up in court, he said "I suspect my clients were not allowed to enter the court room because they were shabbily dressed". He could not fathom why the judges threw out the case, saying,"it amounts to denial of citizens of this country the opportunity to protect their votes".
