The Kwahu Development Authority has announced, a ban on indecent dressing by holiday revelers at this year’s Easter festivities in the area.
Further to that, the KDA says it will not tolerate behaviours such as: “Parking at unauthorized places to cause traffic jams, reckless driving, use of unregistered motorbikes, criminal activities, indiscipline and hooliganism as well as indecent dressing and any behaviour that offends cultural and moral values”.
A statement issued by the KDA ahead of the festivities which begin this weekend, says the directive is in line with its resolve “to ensure all guests and holiday makers celebrate in an atmosphere of respect for the laws”.
The annual Kwahu Easter Festival has now become an omnibus event where all manner of people throng to the top of the Kwahu Ridge to celebrate.
To the real natives of Kwahu, Easter celebration is a moment where families embark on a massive home coming and this provides an opportunity to reflect on the past and make amends, forging ahead to face the future with unity and love.
Families get united after being away for long and the traditional authorities use the opportunity to meet with community members.
The Easter Festival received negative publicity last year over alleged open sex, which the KDA said “tainted the image of the people of Kwahu as people who endorse immoral behavior. After thorough investigations, the story turned out to be false”.
“The KDA wishes to underscore that Kwahu is a disciplined and religious community with high morals and would be the last to allow or encourage visitors to do such despicable things”.
