Investigations into the alleged assault of some media personnel who covered the 57th independence anniversary celebrations, have been completed.
A number of media personnel, including presidential correspondents deployed to the Independence Square on March 6, 2013, were allegedly manhandled by the security personnel detailed to the parade grounds.
A Ghanaian Times photographer, Vincent Dzatse received slaps from a security man. Meanwhile a Daily Graphic photographer, Nii Martey Botwe also had his penis subjected to electric shock because he attempted to take photographs of President John Mahama who was exchanging pleasantries with chiefs and leaders of political parties at the parade ground.
Minister of Information and Media Relations Mahama Ayariga, on Tuesday confirmed on Joy FM’s Super Morning ShowM that investigations have been completed and the report has been finalised.
Mr. Ayariga said the Defence Minister will officially forward the completed report to his outfit for appropriate action to be taken.
The Minister however indicated that, the “Military did instituted an enquiry and filed a report [on the issue]".
"The draft report was brought to me, and I have held discussions with the organizations the {assaulted} journalists work with and indicated to them how far the investigations have gone", he said.
