Twelve members of the Institute of Incorporated Engineers were at the weekend inducted into office and charged to apply professionalism in their chosen field and desist from compromising quality standards in their assignments.
Speaking at the first induction ceremony of the Institute in Accra, Mr
Stephen Akuoko, a former Managing Director of Electricity Company of Ghana, told the inductees to embrace the value of delivering quality service in a timely and efficient manner and to uphold high quality standards.
Mr Akuoko, who is also a professional at the Osaka Energy Consult,
called on inductees to eschew laziness and a "laissez-faire" attitude, stressing that that attitude was counter-productive.
He told the new members to be ambitious and deliver quality service to
the public adding; "You must be an achiever, hardworking and deliver quality services on time in order to maintain your customers and keep in business the institution you are working for."
Mr Akuoko said strict observance of safety regulations was of high
essence in the engineering profession.
He said the new members needed to update their knowledge by using
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a tool.
