The Volta Regional Branch of the Ghana Medical Association has reiterated that investment in the health of children and adolescents were crucial for the growth on any nation.
It appealed to health policy planners to give attention to that sector as dividends were bound to reflect in the physical and mental health of the country's workforce.
A statement marking the 50th Anniversary of the Association signed by Dr. K.G Normanyo, Regional Chairman, said though child health care had been given some priority they were "still not being fully approached".
The statement listed sexual reproduction, psychological and emotional development and prevention of physical risks from adventurism, substance abuse, nutrition and health promotion as some areas that must be tackled.
It said areas dealing with transition of children into adults needed to be well addressed and managed, without which, the country could have many problems of defiant behaviour, sexual risks taking, depression and injury.
The statement also advocated increase access to marriage counseling for healthier family life, which would translate into a peaceful nation.
