Former National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Abayifaa Karbo has blasted ace journalist Kwesi Pratt for claiming pastor Mensa Otabil may be suffering from high fever.
Karbo said the Otabil made no political pronouncement to deserve such insults from Pratt.
He was reacting to comments attributed to the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper against the leader and founder of the International Central Gospel Church.
In a recent sermon, Pastor Otabil said he sensed “something heavy” befalling Ghana within the next one month if Christians do not wake up and pray for the country.
The sermon has generated some degree of condemnation from the public. Kwesi Pratt said “it will be difficult to evaluate whether the many prophesies are motivated by the ailment of the pastors or are genuine as they claim."
"I am aware that when people suffer from high fever they have hallucinations,” he was reported to have said.
But in a reaction, Anthony Karbo said the newspaper editor is being irresponsible in his statement against the man of God.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s current affairs talk-show Ekosii-Sen on Friday, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo noted that Mr. Pratt’s comments against the man of God are embarrassing and abominable in the eyes of God.
He added that the statement from Kwesi Pratt is not a surprise at all because he is an atheist who does not know what he talks about but always on warpath with men of God.
Anthony Karbo stressed that Otabil’s comments were just his feelings which he expressed and wondered why any responsible person will attack him.
"You can take it or leave it” he added.
“I have listened to the Otabil’s tape several times and I haven’t heard anywhere he mentioned NDC or NPP so why the attacks. He was just talking about those holding political power like the president, ministers, MPs among others so why insult him? Is it not true that power resides in the people? Is it not true that people may not be happy about the Supreme Court ruling? I heard people say that Kwesi Pratt is an atheist and I am tempted to believe it because this attack on Otabil is embarrassing and abominable” he bellowed.
Mr. Abayifaa Karbo asked whether the ace journalist is now a medical doctor to know what pastor Mensa Otabil is suffering from.
“I am shocked to hear Kwesi Pratt say Otabil is suffering from high fever? Is he a medical doctor? Is Pratt now claiming to be a medical doctor to know who is suffering from high fever and who is not? I take strong exception to this statement”.
He asked Kwesi Pratt to tell the world the crime the man of God for has committed in expressing what he senses.
“Kwesi Pratt should come boldly and tell us the crime Otabil has committed for expressing his sense of feelings”.
“If you don’t believe in God, believe in what you want and leave God’s to his followers than speaking ill about his ministers. What kind of language is that? This is shameful," he warned.
Mr. Karbo called on all well meaning Ghanaians to join hands in condemning Kwesi Pratt’s attack on Mensa Otabil noting that such people will no longer be tolerated in society anymore.
