Isco scored a stoppage-time winner as Real Madrid twice came from behind to win 3-2 at Sporting Gijon.
The midfielder proved Real's inspiration as the Liga leaders scraped a win with Cristiano Ronaldo absent.
The result takes them six points clear of Barcelona who face Real Sociedad later on Saturday.
Sporting went in front through Duje Cop, who slammed home a scooped pass from Mikel Vesga, only to see Isco level within three minutes.
Vesga put the home side back in front early in the second half with a looped header over Kiko Casilla but again the lead was short-lived as Alvaro Morata equalised.
Isco was Real's best player throughout, and provided a grandstand finish when he drilled low into the net in injury time.
