The Wa Police are holding a second year student of the Kabanye Junior High School, for slapping a teacher and pulling a machete at him on the school campus.
Master Mwinea S. Ganiu reportedly attempted to attack the Science teacher of the school, Mr Alhassan Fahad, whom he accused of orchestrating the school’s decision to repeat him.
Narrating the incident to Myjoyonline.com, a teacher of the school, Mr Mohammed Illiyasu, said Master Ganiu turned up dressed shabbily and ignored questions as to why he was so dressed.
According to Mr Illiyasu, the student approached Mr Fahad and asked for his assistance to talk to the headmaster of the school to grant him a transfer to another.
But the Science teacher assured Ganiu that he did not get the listening ear of the headmaster.
When Ganiu was not getting the cooperation of Mr Fahad, he slapped the teacher and pulled a machete with which he threatened to dismember the teacher.
Students and teachers mobilized and surged forward in an attempt to disarm him.
Overwhelmed by the numbers, Ganiu took to his heels but was pursued by the students.
He dived into a dam but was followed there, arrested and handed over to the police.
