Joy News Impact Maker winner, Joseph Maudjorm, has been selected by the United States Embassy for the 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship.
In 2023, the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) advocate who was honored by Joy News for his work in communities across Upper Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region.
His commitment to improving access to clean water and sanitation has transformed many lives, earning him recognition from both local and international bodies.
His dedication to community development has now earned him a prestigious opportunity: Joseph Maudjorm has been selected for the 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.
The highly competitive fellowship, which draws thousands of applications from across Africa, will see Maudjorm spending six weeks in the United States starting June 18, 2025.
During this period, he will participate in a Leadership Institute at a U.S. higher education institution, where he will enhance his leadership skills and connect with fellow young leaders from across Sub-Saharan Africa and the United States.
Additionally, a select group of Fellows will be chosen to remain in the U.S. for a four-week Professional Development Experience (PDE) at a private, public, or nonprofit organization, further deepening their expertise before returning home.
Upon his return, Maudjorm is expected to leverage his newfound knowledge and networks to drive even greater impact in Ghana’s WASH sector.
As a Fellowship Alumnus, he will also gain access to ongoing professional development and collaboration opportunities supported by the U.S. Department of State and affiliated partners.
With this recognition and opportunity, Joseph Maudjorm’s passion for sustainable development and community transformation is set to reach even greater heights, inspiring young leaders across Ghana and beyond.
