As part of the First Oil celebrations, the Jubilee Partners are organizing ‘The First Oil Thanksgiving Service’ on Sunday, December 19, 2010, at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Center from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
The theme of the service is ‘Through Wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established….’ Proverbs 24:3-6.
The service will not only offer praise and thanks to the Lord but will provide teachings on how Ghanaians in general can manage their expectations and attitudes towards the oil find.
The interdenominational Thanksgiving Service will feature a sermon by Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church. Other Religious leaders including Rev. Fred Deegbe, General Secretary of the Christian Council, Apostle Emmanuel Donkor, General Secretary of the Christ Apostolic Church, representatives from the Ghana Pentecostal Council and representatives from AGLOW, will participate in the programme.
The joyous occasion will feature religious leaders, Christian and youth groups, the Jubilee partners as well as key government officials. The two hour programme will also feature gospel performances by Kwaku Gyasi, Ohemaa Mercy, the el Dunamis Minstrels as well as other acts.
The service is in conjunction with the Christian Council of Ghana and is supported by the Pentecostal Council of Ghana, the National Catholic Secretariat and the National Association of Charismatic Churches.
According to the Jubilee Partners, a Thanksgiving Service to be held by the Muslim Community will be announced shortly.
The First Oil Thanksgiving service is an initiative of the Jubilee partners –Anadarko, E.O Group Ghana Ltd, GNPC, Kosmos Energy, Sabre Oil and Gas and Tullow Oil.
