Northern Patriots in Research and Advocacy (NORPRA), a civil society organization, has called on President John Dramani Mahama and his government to justify the confidence Ghanaians had reposed in them by delivering on their campaign promises. This was contained in congratulatory message to the President signed by the President of NORPRA, Bismark Adongo Ayorogo NORPARA commended the NDC government for delivering on its past four-year manifesto perfectly that enabled it to be retained in power, and appealed to the government not to be complacent but to continue to double its efforts to do more to improve upon the livelihood of Ghanaians. The statement said the massive votes for the party by the vast majority of Ghanaians are a demonstration of the people’s absolute trust and confidence in the NDC leadership and an indication that the manifestoes of the party is realistic and achievable within the 4-year period. “It is for this reason that NORPRA urges the president and his team about to be named, to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them,” the statement said. It commended the government for establishing and committing substantial amount of resources particularly in the provision of a total number of 270 tractors among others, in its first term in office to the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA). NORPRA appealed to President Mahama and his government to ensure that its campaign promises are fulfilled. These are; expanding SADA programmes in climate change mitigation, establishing at least 10 new colleges of Education, constructing 200 new senior high schools and setting up one shea nut factory in Upper East Region and another in Upper West Region. It said other campaign promises are constructing the multipurpose irrigation dam at Pwalugu in the Upper East Region and establishing regional hospitals in the Upper East and Upper West Regions. All all these are to be fulfilled within the next four years to improve the lives of Ghanaians particularly the poor and vulnerable groups in northern Ghana.
