Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has called on former General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, also known as Sir John, to forgive him for campaigning to get him out of the office.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Tuesday said occurrences in the party in recent times have forced him to eat humble pie.
“Let me take this opportunity to apologise to Sir John…I have never made such a mistake in my life…,” he said.
The NPP firebrand spearheaded the campaign to get the former scribe and several old executives of the party out of office.
His aim was finally achieved when at the Tamale congress a year ago, Sir John and several others including past chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey were defeated at the congress.
The NPP has for the past week courted negative media reports following the organisation of an emergency Steering Committee meeting in the absence of its Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong.
The latest to dirty the already muddied waters of the party is a former campaign manager and presidential aspirant of the party, Dr. Kobina Arthur Kennedy who in his latest article called for a deliverance for the party.
He argued in his latest article that the flagbearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo was the main problem in the party.
The Assin Central legislator however insisted that he was never in agreement to the assertion by the medical doctor that the twice-failed flagbearer was the problem arguing that persons nursing personal ambitions were the main problems in the party.
According to him, he has had to spend lots of time and resources in getting the party united and hence threatened that he would leave no stone unturned to expose trouble makers and get them out of the party.
Ken Agyapong further alleged that he was aware of various members of the NPP who were seeking favour from the government and hence were scheming to retard the progress of the NPP.
