The Department of Agroforestry at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has welcomed a delegation from Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT), following a visit to their campus in Germany, to explore further collaboration opportunities.
Funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), the partnership aims to promote joint research projects, workforce development, student training, and extension services. After long and thoughtful discussions, the HSWT team expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm for the collaboration.
“I am really convinced that we have a huge potential for cooperation, not only because of the topics we have discussed but also due to our shared dedication and alignment in thinking. There is much we can achieve together. This institution and the others we have visited are well-equipped for the complex challenges ahead. I am really looking forward to a further cooperation,” said Prof. Dr. Habil Carsten Lorz.
Prof. Dr. Dietrich Darr added, “There are numerous opportunities for us to explore together. We are committed to long-term collaboration. After spending time here and getting to know the team better, I am quite optimistic. I appreciate the conversation we had during the past few days."
Prof. Akwasi Adutwum Abunyewa, Head of the Department of Agroforestry, noted, "This visit is an exploratory mission to determine how we can collaborate on research and other areas. We visited Germany and have seen your setup and now you have also seen ours so the next step is to develop concept notes and proposals."
Earlier, the HSWT team met with the Provost of the College, Prof. Dadson Awunyo-Vitor, and the Dean of the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, Prof. B.B. Campion, who both warmly welcomed the team and assured them of the College’s full support for the partnership.
