Authorities of Kodjonya Millennium Presbyterian Junior High School, in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region, have closed down the school.
This was after a 17-year-old school dropout stormed the school and threatened to harm a National Service Person who teaches there.
Richard Nanor Narh, 31, sensing danger, fled for his life and formally lodged a complaint with the police in Korletsom.
The suspect accused the teacher of passing provocative comments about him.
According to him, “the teacher told me if I smoke weed, he does better than I can.”
The suspect and his sibling, 14, who is a third-year student of the school were arrested by the Odumase Krobo district police command for the threat of harm.
The district police commander, Superintendent Doris Hukporti, confirmed the incident to Adom FM's sister station, Rite FM.
She said, “we will hold on with his name and age for now, but he was arrested for the threat of harm.”
The accused, having stated two different ages, 20 and 17 during interrogation, will be charged and arraigned should their investigations prove he is an adult, she explained.
The incident, according to a GES circuit supervisor in the area has caused fear and panic among teachers and students.
Meanwhile, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the School Management Committee (SMC), chiefs and opinion leaders in the community will hold an emergency meeting to address the issue.
