Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings will amass no less than 1,760 of the total delegates votes in Saturday's crucial flagbearer race of the ruling NDC. This is according to Kofi Adams, aide to the Rawlingses in an interview with Myjoyonline.com in Sunyani where the three day congress is already underway. Touting the credentials of the ex-first lady, Adams insists the NDC having "bled so much" needs a unifier to bind the party members together and to improve upon the dwindling fortunes of the party. Describing Nana Konadu as the "midwife" of the NDC, Kofi Adams said Nana Konadu has been "loyal to the party when it lost power and was in opposition; at a time when Mills was out of the country lecturing, Konadu used her 31st December Women's Movement to build the party". "The delegates are telling us we are winning; they are going to vote for us. We should rest assured that intimidation or no intimidation Konadu all the way," he said. "I know she is making not less than 1,760," he added. He dismissed assertions by supporters of President Mills that a vote for Konadu will be a disaster for the NDC in the 2012 elections. He noted rather that "a vote for Mills is a worse case situation for the NDC." He vehemently debunked assertions that the Konadu candidature is a perpetuation of a dynasty in the country, saying what we have in Ghana is a multiparty democracy and not a dynasty where a father or king hands over power to a relative without any election. But Trade and Industry Minister, Hannah Tetteh believes President John Mills is the overwhelming candidate to be retained. She told Myjoyonline.com the delegates are so discerning and will vote massively for the sitting president. Asked for whom she was going to vote for, Hannah Tetteh stated: "I am going to vote for President Mills and I have no reason not to put that on record," she said. She played down on the acrimonious nature of the campaigns ahead of the delegates congress, saying after Sunday, by which time results will be known, the two contestants will come together to campaign in 2012. Meanwhile a group of observers clad in President Mills T-Shirts wearing white cloths on their heads have started jubilating, and singing the "Game is over." Atta Mills has won even before the game gets started. Over 3,200 delegates are expected to cast their votes in the race to elect a presidential candidate.
