Konkomba youth within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) say they are not happy with rampant attacks on them by Murtala Mohammed, Deputy Minister of Information.
According to them, the Deputy Minister has, on several platforms, repeatedly disparaged their concerns of neglect by the party.
They made these known in a press conference held on March 5, 2014 at the Konkomba Yam Market.
The Konkomba Youth in NDC had accused the ruling NDC government of neglecting them.
According them after being "deceived" by the NDC government to vote for them, many of them have been denied ministerial positions.
They also claim, the NDC in the heat of the 2012 election campaigns, also promised to maintain the Konkomba Market in Accra at its current location and reconstruct it to an international food market, if it is voted into power.
However, according to them, since winning power government through and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has been determined to close down the market, although the market has been in existence for more than three decades.
"But Hon. Murtala has alluded on several occasions in response to questions on radio and television stations that our group’s position was not relevant. He also went on to make statements that ‘well–meaning Konkombas and prominent Konkombas were not in support of the press conference’", they said.
According to the group all persons who recognise themselves as Konkombas are "important, prominent and well meaning."
The group is demanding an apology from the deputy minister or face their wrath.
