Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday beat visiting Tudu Mighty Jets 1-0 in their Glo Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Kotoko stunned their opponents barely 32 seconds into the game with a beautiful goal from striker Alex Asamoah who trapped a pass and went on a solo effort to beat advancing goalkeeper Yakubu Abubakar.
Mighty Jets appeared to have been unsettled by the early goal as they allowed the home team to dictate the pace of the game and the Porcupine Warriors nearly increased their goal tally but good timing from the goalkeeper denied Asamoah from hitting a brace as his header from a Ganiyu Yahaya in-swinger was saved in the 43rd minute.
Mighty Jets came into the second half a more transformed side and managed to keep the Kotoko attack at bay in most of parts of the game but failed to press home for the equalizer.
The visitors surprisingly sat back and occasionally caught their opponents on the break but the clear-cut chances that came their way in the 73rd and 81st minutes were wasted by Kofi Owusu.
