Africa Prize for Transformational Leadership a non-governmental organization, (NGO) has nominated five Ghanaians and 10 others from other African countries for awards in March 2011 in Accra.
These Africans, who according to the NGO, have distinguished themselves in their fields of endeavor include; Professor Stephen Adei, Mr. Kweku Sintim Misa (KSM), Mr. Frank Adu, Dr. Sarfo Kantanka and Mr. George Acquah, all from Ghana.
A statement signed by Most Reverend Godwin Davids, Chairman of the NGO, and copied to Ghana News Agency, mentioned others as Prof. Marisa Keuris, Nicola Viegi and Niek Schoeman from South Africa and Dr. Betty Gikonyo and Dr. Elijah Akunda from Kenya.
The statement also mentioned the rest as Dr.V.M Nawa and Professor M.N. Siamwiza both from Zambia and Dr. Adonis Abbound from Sierra Leone, Professor Quinton Williams from the USA and Madam Genevieve Nnaji from Nigeria.
It said the awards dubbed “The African Nobel” covered the areas of democratic progress, humanitarian assistance, positive social influence, entertainment, business and finance, education and innovation in science, agricultural sciences and the natural sciences.
The statement said the awards were intended to encourage Africans to be committed to their areas of operation, and to promote responsible leaderships in all fields in Africa.
It said: “Our aim is to get the best out of our African leaders and to use them as role models for future generations.”
