Former President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra on Monday night to Lilongwe, Malawi, to monitoring the country's general elections slated for May 19.
Mr Frank Agyekum, spokesperson for the ex-President, told the Ghana News Agency the visit is at the invitation of the Commonwealth.
He said former President Kufuor was leading a seven-member delegation of the Commonwealth for the monitoring exercise. Ex-President Kufuor would return to Ghana on May 25, 2009.
Early this year, the former President led an African Union delegation to Malawi to observe the political situation in the country.
