Former President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra on Monday to attend the 100th session of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
The ex president is one of the four former world leaders representing the Club of Madrid who have teamed up with the ILO to jointly organise the conference.
The others are Osvaldo Hurtado, former President of Ecuador, Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria, Abudul Karim Al Eryani, former Prime Minister of Yemen and Wim Kok former Prime Minister of The Netherlands.
A statement signed by Mr Frank Agyekum, Spokesperson for the Office of the former President said Mr Kufuor and his colleagues would address a high level plenary panel on: "The Need for a new social order."
The panel discussion will be preceded by an address by Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of the Russia Federation, while the closing statement would be delivered by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete.
The week long activities will be attended by more than 7,000 representatives of governments, employers and workers from 183 member countries of the ILO.
From Geneva, former President Kufuor will travel to New York to chair the 2011 second annual Governing Council meeting of Interpeace, the UN supported peace building alliance based in Geneva and working across the world to promote peace in post-conflict societies.
