Police at Asawasi in Kumasi are investigating a suspected arson and other crimes by a suspected terrorist gang following the death of its leader.
The death K-Boronto sparked reprisal attacks from members of his group who allegedly set two houses ablaze at Asawasi.
He died of machete wounds as he engaged one Seidu Kaadu in a free-for-all fight.
Though police will not give details except to say investigations have begun, residents say K-Boronto and his group had been terrorizing residents for some time now.
They told Nhyira News last Sunday the gang subjected a 10-year old boy to severe beating for refusing to run an errand for them.
A confrontation ensued between one Seidu Kaadu, also a resident who questioned K-Boronto and his group’s action.
K-Boronto and his group have since Sunday been firing warning shots to scare their opponents.
Armed with machetes, K-Boronto allegedly stormed Seidu’s house and threatened to kill his wife and children in the absence of the family head.
Seidu is also reported to have reacted and pursued his assailant, resulting in a fight during which K-Boronto allegedly received a deep machete wound on the neck. He died on the way to hospital.
Members of his group are suspected to have carried the reprisal attacks, setting Seidu’s and another house ablaze.
