A group calling itself the La Citizens Network is hitting the streets on Tuesday to protest what it says is lack of accountability by managers of stool lands.
The group wants the La Mantse, Nii Kpobi Tetey Tsuru to explain why he sold lands without consulting the people.
It accuses the traditional council of aiding indiscriminate lands sale for their selfish ends without thinking about future generations.
A spokesperson for the group, Nii Yemo Yemofio told Joy News on Monday the group would present a petition to the La Traditional Council and expect immediate accounting for thousands of hectares of land sold over the years.
“It is the mandate of the traditional council to (take care of) all these things for the people. So we are urging them…to be up and doing. We are giving them an ultimatum to come out and let the people of La know the state of our lands,” Nii Yemofio told Joy News’ Kwaku Obeng Adjei.
Nii Yemofio cited stool lands including the stretch on which the Airport City is sited and the piece of land at the Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout area which was allocated for the construction of the Villagio Estates.
“We want to know if there is some money coming from somewhere and if there is some money coming from somewhere, how is the traditional council using the money?”
