Tarkwa Ladies club has inaugurated a 470-million cedi Pre-Primary school building at a ceremony at Akoon near Tarkwa.
The funding was made possible through the contributions of members of the Ladies Club, the Akoon Methodist Church and Akoon community.
The school, which started in 2005 has four classrooms and the idea of constructing it was mooted in 2005 by the Club which saw the project necessary in view of the dilapidated condition of the old building.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Claire Duvel President of the Ladies Club and Project Co-ordinator said, the project would enhance the education of the children who would be privileged to attend the school.
She said the edifice was the Clubs token gift to help build a sound foundation for future generations.
Joseph Amponsah, Assistant Director, Supervision and Management, Wassa West District Education Office thanked the Ladies Club for their kind gesture and commended them for demonstrating that they are indeed mothers and have the welfare of the children at heart.
He also appealed to the community members, parents and teachers to take good care of the facility so as not to deface its beauty.
Rt. Rev. John Adoba, Diocesan Bishop of the Tarkwa Methodist Church said that education is the cradle of children development and as such the initiative made by the Ladies would go a long way to help both the community and the nation at large.
Rev. Adoba urged parents to assume proper responsibility of children by investing in their education and also supporting them in prayers.
