The Right Reverend Winfred Habel Yao Ametefe, Bishop of the Tema Diocese of the Methodist Church, has tasked the Church to raise young people of integrity to assume leadership positions in the Church and society. He said the leadership of the Church must be an excellent one and the Church must endeavour to live up to that responsibility. Rt Rev Ametefe gave the encouragement at the Fifth Biennial Delegates Conference of the Association of Methodist Brigades (AMB) of the Tema Diocese, at the Immanuel Methodist Church at Community 11, at the weekend. The theme of the conference was: "Raising Young Leaders of Integrity for Sustainable Development of Church and Society." Bishop Ametefe reminded the Youth of the Church that the mantle of leadership would one day fall on them and urged them to lead morally upright lives in order not to be found wanting when it is their turn to lead the Church. He commended the leadership of the Association for their foresight and ingenuity, and urged them to continue to help shape the lives of members. Rev Kwesi Akyin Sekyi-Appiah of the Ebenezer Methodist Church at Community 20, in his keynote address, charged church leaders to make conscious efforts to raise children of integrity by first identifying their innate leadership qualities, talents and gifts and harnessing them for the growth and development of the Church and society. Rev Sekyi-Appiah urged the youth not to go wayward but to stay within the confines of the Church in order to grow into God-fearing and responsible adults. Mr Robert Nii Amarh Amartey, Diocesan Co-ordinator of the Association, reminded the leadership of the Church of their bounding duty to take up the challenge of evangelizing the young ones into the waiting armies of Christ. Madam Hannah Vida Mensah, Patron of the Association, who chaired the function, urged parents to ensure the proper upbringing of their children. Madam Mensah asked parents to be compassionate, caring and loving towards children. Goodwill Messages and Fraternal Greetings were read by sister Diocesan Organisations of the Church, including the Christ's Little Band; Men's Fellowship; Girls Fellowship; Choir Council; Methodist Guild; and Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary.Source: GNA
