Government has ordered the release of funds for the completion of road projects which started before 2009.
Speaking at the dialogue series at the ongoing Ghana Policy Fair, the Minister for Roads and Highway, Joe Gidusu indicated that the outstanding projects for which the funds have been released include the Tetteh Quashie – Madina road, Achimota – Ofankor road, Nsawam bypass, Nkawkaw bypass, Sofoline road, Oforikrom – Asokwa bypass and Worawora – Dambai road with the Sogakope – Adidome – Ho – Fume road phase 1 completed.
Although the Minister did not state the total sum released for the completion of the projects, he said the budget runs into several millions of Ghana cedis.
He also announced the rehabilitation of the Adomi Bridge will commence by the third quarter of the year.
Speaking on the state of the country’s health infrastructure, the Head of Biomedical Engineering at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Nichodemus Gebe, said government was on course with its plan to provide hospitals in all districts of the country to deliver health care.
Dr. Gebe, who represented the Health Minister, Alban Bagbin, said it was the Ministry’s goal to promote and increase private investments in the health sector.
He said equitable distribution of health care workers in the country was vital and as such housing was being provided for health workers around the country.
He cited the installation of CT Scans and other specialised equipment to screen breast and cervical cancer, the construction of five polyclinics in the northern part of the country as well as the upgrade of some Nursing Colleges as part of infrastructural development geared towards the provision of better health care for Ghanaians.
