A first-half strike by Osman Ibrahim helped Asante Kotoko secure their first three points in this season's Ghana Premier League at the expense of Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.
Having failed to win their previous two games, Kotoko started brightly and deservedly scored in the 10th minute. Ibrahim, completely unmarked in the box, fired a shot past Fatau Dauda to give the Porcupine Warriors the lead.
Legon Cities were unable to trouble Kotoko in the first half. However, they should have scored in the second half. Striker Raphael Ocloo was guilty of missing two great opportunities.
Emmanuel Gyamfi, on the other hand, failed to double the lead in the dying embers of the game as he shot straight at Fatau Dadua in a one-on-one situation.
Kotoko players celebrated when the referee whistled for the end of the game. For Legon players, they were absolutely dejected.
The defeat means they are without a win after five games. They have also not scored a goal from open play, with their only goal this season coming from the penalty spot on matchday one against Berekum Chelsea.
