The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of Ghana CAN 2008 has extended the deadline for the submission of names for the Mascot for the African Cup of Nations.
The LOC has pushed the deadline to Friday, February 23.
The move, according to the LOC is to pave way for more contestants to find an appropriate name for the mascot and which has attractive prizes.
Contestants are supposed to send their preferred names through text massaging.
The competition is opened to Ghanaians regardless of their ages and each contestant is expected to so by simply texting a choice of name for the Mascot to Areeba on short code 1434, TIGO on short code 2008, One Touch on short code 2008 and Kasapa on short code 2008.
The LOC mentioned return tickets to London, United Kingdom and Johannesburg, South Africa with all expenses paid, a weekend stay for two at the plush Labadi Beach Hotel, fridges, mobile phones, standing fans, blenders and several other consolation prizes are among other prizes at stake.
