With few hours for Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogbe to fight his Japanese opponent Shimizu Satoshi in the Bantam weight division, the parents of the boxer have threatened to stop the boxer from fighting as a result of disregard from Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).
The United Kingdom based boxer’s parents have been agitated by the ignorance of Authorities from Ghana to refuse officially invite them to rally behind their son who has been under their care in the United Kingdom.
The UK-based boxer was at the center of a team selection controversy where some complaints emerged about supposed favoritism for him at the expense of other home based boxers. Some boxers were unhappy because they believed he was favored by the Ghana Amateur Boxing Association(GABA) during the selection process.
The boxer is currently Ghana’s medal hopeful after boxer Maxwell Amponsah had been disqualified on medical grounds.
A close source to the boxer’s family said “we have been looking after our son since, but just to hear he is fighting on Saturday without even somebody informing us and giving us a ticket to witness the fight. We are forced tell our son to withdraw from the fight”, as close sources revealed to Asempa Sports Moses Antwi Benefo
All efforts to reach the Secretary General of the GOC, Richard Akpokavie proved futile.
