The love affair between a 23-year-old lady, Dora Teye, and her fiancé, Kofi Akuffo, 41, turned tragic last Sunday when the young woman allegedly stabbed her partner to death.
The incident occurred at Abonse, near Adukrom in the Akuapem North municipality in the Eastern Region.
Dora is currently being held by the Adukrom police, while Akuffo’s body has been deposited at the morgue at the Tetteh Quarshie Hospital at Akuapem Mampong.
According to the Akuapem North District Police Commander, Superintendent Henry Bacho, three gentlemen, led by the Assembly member for the Abonse Electoral Area, Kwadwo Ansah, informed the police that Akuffo died instantly after being stabbed in the neck by Dora.
He said about 9 a.m. on Sunday, Akuffo went to his lover’s house and took some of her belongings to his house.
The young woman, Supt Bacho said, followed up to Akuffo’s house, where a quarrel ensued between them.
In the process, Akuffo was said to have pulled out a knife and attempted to stab Dora, but she pushed him down, following which he lost control of the knife.
Dora, according to the District Police Commander, then got hold of the knife and allegedly stabbed Akuffo in his neck, leading to his instant death.
Supt Bacho said Dora started shouting for help and the three men, including Mr Ansah, who went to the scene apprehended and handed her over to the police.
Akuffo’s body was then taken to the morgue at the Tetteh Quarshie Hospital for autopsy.
