Dr. Marcus Manns, founder and CEO of the Chiropractic and Wellness Centre, has said the spinal cord is very important part of the human body and it must be adequately protected.
He explained that even though some back pains are unpreventable, most low back pains are as a result of risky behavior.
Writing on his website, corporatewellness@CreatingWellnessAfrica.com, Dr. Marcus lamented that certain tips like maintaining a healthy diet and weight, wearing comfortable low heeled shoes, maintaining proper posture, avoiding prolong bed rest, and warming up or stretching before exercise or any physical activities can help prevent low back pain.
According to Dr. Manns, who is also a renowned motivational speaker, smoking impairs blood flow resulting in nutrients and oxygen deprivation which causes improper functioning of the nervous system and the spinal cord leading to low back pains.
The US trained doctor said some patients with recurring back pains experience significant improvement in their health after a month of chiropractic treatment.
Smokers should quit smoking because the spine is the helpline of life, he warns.
