Authorities of the Maamobi General Hospital say they are in dire need of a new anaesthesia machine to help save the lives of patients.
The facility’s only anaesthesia machine has been in use for more than a decade and is now unable to perform basic anaesthesia duties.
Administrator of the Hospital, Helen Tetteh, raised these concerns when the Melcom Group donated 11 Pharmacy Refrigerators and some electrical appliances to the facility on Tuesday, February 22.
According to her, there are plans to create a new theatre for the health facility; hence, the acquisition of a new anaesthesia machine will help them to effectively discharge their operations.

“The one that is currently in use is old and just as I mentioned we are in the process of relocating our theatre upstairs of the maternity block. So, we are requesting for the new anaesthesia machine so that we can send that one to the new theatre and leave the old one for the old theatre which is going to serve as a minor theatre."

“It [the new anaesthesia machine] is going to be of tremendous benefit. With old machines, there are frequent breakdowns so if we are able to get the new machine that means the duration is going to be longer and the effectiveness and efficiency too will be better than the old one,” she said.
The Director of Communication for Melcom Group, Gordwin Avenorgbo, while stating the aim of the donation observed that many hospitals in the country need the support and inputs of organisations to thrive.

He explained that the medical fridges donated to the Hospital will help to “keep vaccines, blood and others.”
“Melcom organises blood donation every year and these are the hospitals that assist us through the Ghana Health Service. This is just to support them, to strengthen them, and to say we appreciate them for what they are doing for Ghana. We are here to help you,” he added.
