President John Mahama has appointed Daniel Domelovo as Auditor-General with effect from December 23, 2016.
In a letter sighted by Myjoyonline.com, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, stated that “until the approval of of the report of the Prof, Boandoh Committee on Emoluments, the salary and allowances payable and the facilities and privileges available to you shall be as indicated in the Prof. Ewurama Addy Committee report.”
Mr Domelovo is to confirm his acceptance of the appointment by December 28, 2016.

Meanwhile, a private legal practitioner and owner of the Observer Newspaper, Egbert Faibille has cast doubts on Mr Domelovo accepting the appointment.
According to him, the gentleman who is an accountant by profession, is not comfortable with the appointment and has left town after he was informed about the appointment.
“The circumstances and the facts around the appointment of the Auditor-General is very shambolic. An accountant general staff who is on secondment somewhere in Harare or Malawi comes to town and you approach him and give him an appointment letter.
“Because he is in the accounting profession, he spoke to his colleagues who might have advised him against accepting it and the gentleman looks at it and says ‘I think that I am better off doing my work and not invite all this brouhaha’.
“So he leaves town and so the swearing in that was supposed to be done yesterday did not come off. I believe that is the end of the road,” he said.
