Kwame Donkor, an unemployed who had sex with a six-year-old girl at a nearby bush under the pretence of giving her a Christmas gift has been sentenced to 18 years with hard labour by the Akim Swedru circuit court.Donkor pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement .Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah told the presiding judge, Mr Yaw Atta Sampong that both the accused and the victim lived at Akim Akroso.He stated that on December 25, 2012 at about 14.20 hours, the six-year-old girl and her younger sister were playing at the back of their house when Donkor called them to come for their Christmas gifts.The convict took them to a nearby bush and forcibly had six with the victim in the presence of her younger sister, Inspector Appiah stated.He said Mr Francis Amoah, a witness in the case saw the victim and her sister coming out of the bush and that the victim told Mr Amoah of her ordeal.The prosecutor said when Mr Amoah saw Donkor and confronted him he took to his heels but the witness took the children to their house and informed their parents.The parents lodged a complaint at the Police Station and Donkor was later arrested, Inspector Appiah said.
