The Adenta Police Command is currently investigating a case in which a 29-year-old man is believed to have charmed a young girl. The young girl, as a result of the charm, followed the suspect around like a donkey until she regained consciousness. The 16-year-old JHS graduate (name withheld) told the Adenta Police that she missed her way while travelling from Pokuase to the Adenta SDA junction, where she lived with a guardian. When she approached a man for help, the suspect, Salifu Issifu, appeared on the scene and prevented the man from directing her to her residence. Thereafter, he engaged her in a chat, which presumably hypnotised her. According to the Adenta Commander, DSP Stephen Ahiatafu, Salifu, who claimed he was a security man with the Ayensu Estate Company at Dodowa, met his potential prey at Madina at about 4:00.p.m and told her that she would lose her right leg and hand because of a spell cast on her if she went home that evening. He said the girl could only be freed from the spell if she went with him to his abode for a Spiritual exercise. Salifu said he would pray and deliver her before she could go home safely. The two boarded a lorry bound for Dodowa, however a few minutes into the journey, the girl realised she was heading in the wrong direction. She then asked a lady passenger, whom the suspect has engaged in a chat with, if she knew Salifu. When the passenger had been briefed about the young girl's ordeal, she told the driver to stop the vehicle for the girl to get down. When the girl got down, Salifu insisted he would also alight should the girl get down. The driver was therefore advised to drive to the Adenta police barrier, where the case was first reported and later referred to the district command, where Salifu was arrested and de-tained. The police were unable to establish the motive of the suspect, who insisted that he meant no harm and that his intentions were good. Investigation into the matter continues.
