After failing to steer Black Stars “B” to another CHAN tournament, Maxwell Konadu had nothing but words of apology to Ghanaians.
The former Kotoko trainer, who had by and large been in-charge of the team while substantive coach Kwesi Appiah focused on other assignments, was also at the helm of affairs when Ghana were knocked out by Ivory Coast in the previous edition.
The team failed to build on the 2-2 result in Ouagadougou, losing the away goal advantage within 30 minutes in Kumasi and losing 4-3 on aggregate.
This is in sharp contrast to the defeat against Ivory Coast where Ghana were knocked out by the away goals rule
And Konadu who has been in charge of both defeats is pleading with the fans.
“We have to start by saying that we are sorry for disappointing the very fans that have been behind this team all this while but what else can we say," Konadu said in the post press conference.
"The boys did their best and we guided them to how to be victorious, but unfortunately for us that couldn’t happen.
He also admitted to morale being at an all-time low in camp with the players still bemused by the result.
“The boys are all down, so the mood in camp is not good but we think that it is football, we did whatever we had to do in order to reverse the scoreline but we couldn’t.”
The next task for the B-team will be the WAFU tournament.
