Immediate past Ghana coach, James Kwesi Appiah is backing stop-gap coach, Maxwell Konadu to lead the national team to victory over Guinea in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in the Morocco capital this weekend.
Appiah was in charge for the Black Stars opening two qualifiers but lost his job soon after the 3-2 win over Togo in Lome, following the termination of his contract by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
His hitherto assistant, Maxwell Konadu was installed in a temporary capacity for the double header against Guinea whilst the search for a permanent replacement continues after five coaches were shortlisted to begin interviews for the big job next week.
Kwesi Appiah believes Konadu has enough experience to take care of business on the touchline for the Black Stars against the Syli Nationale.
“It is a game for all Ghanaians and the national team belongs to all of us so I will wish my assistant Maxwell Konadu the best of luck and I believe he is capable of doing it,” Coach Appiah told Angel FM in Kumasi.
Ghana, Guinea, Uganda and Togo are housed in Morocco 2015 qualifying group E where only two automatic qualifying slots are available to the 31st continental championship.
The Black Stars have four points, same as Uganda, with Guinea third on three points whilst Togo have no points and sit bottom with four games left for all four sides.
