The General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, aka Sir John, has cast doubts over the integrity of the Media Foundation of West Africa’s latest media monitoring report which fingered him for using intemperate language on radio.The latest media monitoring by MFWA also indicted the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah for using indecent expression on radio.The report also fingered Asempa FM, an Accra based radio station for allowing its platform to be used for the most indecent expressions.The NPP General Secretary who was fingered in the report in an interview with Joy News denied that his comments captured in the report were intemperate. Sir John challenged MFWA to come out with its definition of terms “intemperate” and “indecent”.The NPP scribe said he has always been conscious of the comments he makes on radio adding that the MFWA report which indicted him is without basis and must be treated with contempt.But the Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation, Sulley Braimah told Joy News the method his outfit used could not be faulted. He added that the Foundation captured the exact comments made by the two scribes on tape so they cannot be accused of fabricating untruths.According to Sulley Braimah, it is however not their policy to reproduce the captured intemperate language on air.He however expressed the Foundation’s readiness to handover the tape recordings of the said “intemperate/indecent language” to the culprits for them to reanalyze and draw their own conclusions.Contrary to Sir John's remark that he does not know what the MFWA defines as intemperate or indecent language, the MFWA said their monitoring guidelines were drawn by the political parties of which the NPP was part.
